Biography:
Mark Newman joined NLU/NCE in 2002 after teaching at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has been involved in History and Social Studies Education for over 20 years. He served as the NCE Curriculum & Instruction department chair, co-chair of the NCE faculty, and currently as chair of NCE Secondary Education.
Mark Newman is editor of the Teaching History Today and in the future book series Rowman & Littlefield

He has presented at numerous state, national, and international conferences.
He has received 4 National Endowment for the Humanities grants and was director of a Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Project.
He was awarded the NCE Distinguished Teaching Award in 2016 and the Illinois Council for the Social Studies Distinguished Service Award in 2013.
