Join us for the Official Start of the School Year: The Student Success Summit!
We have multiple ways to support you as you prepare for your college journey, and we wanted to highlight the Student Success Summit! In addition to the First-Year Orientation and NLUReady, you are required to register and attend the Student Success Summit, which is your college-specific orientation.
The Student Success Summit is designed for all 1st year students and is the official start of your school year. We know the transition to college brings a lot of new experiences, so this exciting 2-day summit is designed to ensure you feel prepared to start this next academic journey. You will meet faculty, students, and staff, begin your coursework, set up all of your technology, and have fun! The Student Success Summit will be on the following days, and attendance is required for all students: (Register below)

- Register and Attend the First-Year Orientation: You will have received a separate email with information about how to register for the First Year Orientation, and thank you if you have already registered! More information can be found here: First-Year Orientation
- For Undergraduate College (UGC) Students: Submit your request to register for classes before orientation. You only need to submit this once and you will receive a confirmation email when your class schedule is in place.

- Complete NLUReady: You will receive a separate email with access instructions once you’ve registered for classes.

Student Success Summit Checklist
- Laptop and Charger
You’ll use your laptop to access NLU platforms like D2L, check your schedule, and complete activities during the summit. If you don’t have a laptop and need to secure one, email Director of First Year Academic Experience, Tatiana Roberts: troberts5@nl.edu - Fully Charged Phone
You may need it for checking your schedule, scanning QR codes, or staying connected. - NLU Email Login Information
Bring your login details. You’ll learn how to access your NLU email, student portal, D2L, and other important tools during the summit. - Questions and Curiosity
Be ready to ask questions about your major, academic support, or student life. This is your time to get informed and empowered. - Positive Mindset
This event is designed to help you start strong, connect with others, and feel prepared for your first day of classes.
FAQ: What if I am unable to make one or both days of the Student Success Summit?
Both days of the Student Success Summit are required. It’s carefully designed to help you start strong in your first term.
Students who attend both days are more confident walking into Week 1, have stronger attendance, and earn higher grades. On the flip side, those who miss out often find themselves scrambling to catch up (which is not the move).
This is your chance to meet professors, connect with classmates, and learn exactly how to make the most of your time at NLU. We’re setting you up to win, so don’t skip the set-up!
