Guidance for Faculty Who Will Only Complete the Goals Form
Changes to Faculty Policy 103 (FP 103) may impact your Faculty Performance Evaluation (FPE) cadence. The table below summarizes whether you will participate in a full FPE this year, next year, or in 2026. Everyone, regardless of rank, will still engage in goal-setting. For more information regarding full FPE reviews, please refer to the Faculty Performance Evaluation Support page and review FP 103, which can be found on the Faculty Guidelines page. This page will offer guidance to faculty who are only engaging goal-setting during this year's FPE cycle.
When setting goals, faculty should keep their plans for promotion in mind. Setting and reviewing goals is the best way to make sure that faculty are on track toward promotion. Again, it is expected that faculty will address each criteria in FP 104 in their dossier (see Faculty Guidelines page for FP 104 details). So, as faculty look ahead to promotion, they should think about how their work aligns with all FP 104 criteria and ensure that they are setting goals for criteria that they haven't addressed since their appointment or last promotion.

Goals-only Form
Faculty at the rank of Associate Professor and Professor will not have a formal FPE this year, unless they or their supervisor has requested one. However, the expectation is that faculty and reviewers will still connect regarding their goals. We have drafted a goals form that will facilitate this discussion.

Sessions for Those Conducting Reviews
Goals-only Review Timelines
Faculty should set goals for their expected contributions during the upcoming year, even if they are not scheduled for a full Faculty Performance Evaluation. This annual goal-setting will help faculty and reviewers communicate regarding shifting programmatic goals and faculty interests. It also provides an opportunity for faculty to check-in regarding long-term aspirations and short-term goals.
A typical workflow for developing goals for the year will include: a faculty member drafts goals, sends those goals to their program chair/reviewer for review, the faculty member and reviewer will meet to finalize goals, and then the reviewer submits faculty goals to the Academic Unit Leader. However, this is only a recommended workflow; you and your reviewer may have a different process.
